Imagine going on a retreat for 7-10 days where you are not allowed to speak and make eye contact with anyone. Total silence with your eyes closed. Does that sound scary to anyone? But if you are able to find peace within yourself to be able to do this, wouldn't that be incredible?

To give you a little background information about Vipassana meditation:

Vipassana-Bhavana means, 'the development of insight' and it represents the essence of the teachings of Buddha. The teachings are said to lead towards the path to self-awareness, self-realization, and self-acceptance. This course, taught by S.N. Goenka has attracted thousands of people around the world. The writer of the book, William Hart has been studying Vipassana meditation for close to 30 years. This book is dedicated to the individuals who wish to learn more about the teachings and to obtain peace in their lives.

The teachings of Vipassana meditation sound very difficult but sounds incredible. If you are interested to learn more, this book will definitely be a good place to start.

So, what does finding peace within yourself mean?

Well in my subjective opinion...

It is about accepting yourself for your limitations and being patient with yourself when you're in doubt. It's about being content with yourself when you are feeling annoyed and angry. And forgiving yourself when you make mistakes.

It is also about taking the time to replenish & reflect on yourself and being kind to yourself. Love yourself to learn about yourself. As you find peace with yourself, you will be able to find peace with your surroundings.

Always be courageous enough to speak your mind but be considerate of other people's feelings; express your individuality but be mindful of others' differences; check up on your loved ones but remember they need personal space too.
